Koalemos is supposedly the god of stupidity but he was actually just really sound. He was fun, loyal and wasn’t afraid to play the clown to get a laugh and cheer everyone up. 

The problem was a chap called Aristophanes, who took against him for whatever reason and, due to A’s superior status, referred to Koalemos is his texts as a moron. And….well….it stuck. 

It got me thinking of how many people have had their whole lives disparagingly explained away in one sentence, by one knobhead. Lots probably. 

So this is for you, Koalemos. Little ol’ me telling the world that you weren’t an ignoramus, you’re absolutely not forgotten, and that your ACTUAL reputation as a clown who wouldn’t take any shit is alive and well. 

You’ve made your mark on the world in a positive way (despite attempts to make you inconsequential) and I love ya. 

This piece is (clearly) inspired by the phenomenon of the Labubu. As soon as I saw one it reminded me of Koalemos. Cheeky, fun and oddly up for a scrap.
